Borthwick Tartan

Borthwick Dress Tartan

The family tartan may not, in its present form be of great antiquity, this sett was being worn in the early 1950s,
and other interpretations possibly preceded this. In 1975 Major John Henry Stuart Borthwick (later to become Lord Borthwick in 1986), requested Lochcarron to assist in designing a dress version of the tartan for use on festive occasions, and by the lady members of the family.

In 1984 both tartans were duly recorded in the books of the Lord Lyon (Writs Section) and authentic setts of the Borthwick family.
